Evergreen Thoughts
Dear Healthcare Workers: Avoid Burnout. Know the Signs.
You’re a medical professional, and it’s a pandemic.
In a normal year, you participate in some of the biggest highs and deepest lows in your patients’ lives on a regular basis. Births and deaths are the obvious ones, but there are also new diagnoses, unexpected crises, educating a patient’s family, remissions, tragedies, and recoveries. The list goes on and on!
"Dear Eating Disorder": Breaking the Eating Disorder Cycle, Healing and Recovery (Part 4 of 4)
I know we’ve thought about having a secret relationship indefinitely, but I’ve learned more about you recently and I know you have tried to protect and care for me, but I am learning new ways to take care of myself and there isn’t a whole lot of space for you anymore.
"Dear Eating Disorder": Do Eating Disorders Cover Up Deeper Issues? (Part 3 of 4)
I remember when you came back into my life, loudly promising me that I would lose the weight this time and how you dared me to hope that achieving my ideal was only a few months of restricting away. I didn’t know that when I gave you an inch, you would take a mile. I know you are trying to reassure me that things will get better once I look a certain way, but I am becoming more and more convinced that you are not trustworthy at all.
"Dear Eating Disorder": Begin to Believe Change is Possible (Part 2 of 4)
I’ve been thinking about how we met and built our relationship. I am starting to realize how I needed you, how I felt like you could help me solve my problems. I really thought this could work, but I think we need to redefine our relationship. I am realizing something else, I think you may be covering up for some bigger, scarier issues. Can you please be quiet for a minute so I can hear what’s going on inside me?
