What is telehealth?

Telehealth is a word that refers to the rendering of healthcare services through audio and video platforms. At Evergreen Counseling, we use the word “telehealth” when referring to video or phone therapy sessions between clients and their therapists.

TELEHEALTH FAQs

  • Yes! If you are currently located in Illinois, your insurance provider is required to cover telehealth sessions. As of 3/19/20, Governor Pritzker signed an executive order requiring ALL insurance companies to cover telehealth sessions, regardless if subscribers had telehealth previously covered in their individual plans. *There are some exceptions for self-funded plans, and EAP plans. To verify this specific information, our offices can call on your behalf. Just ask!

  • We are getting new information everyday as legislation changes due to the outbreak of COVID-19. The current legislation requires most insurance companies to cover telehealth sessions with the same rate as in-person sessions. Call our office and we will verify your specific plan for you.

  • All therapists at Evergreen are in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO plans. Some therapists are also in network with United Healthcare (Optum), and Aetna PPO. All in-network plans will have telehealth coverage with Evergreen Counseling under the executive order.

  • If you are insured by any other provider, your plan is considered “out of network” with our practice. We still accept clients with out-of-network plans, but we don’t bill your insurance company. Instead, we bill you directly for the services. You can then submit receipts to your company for potential reimbursement. We have many clients who do this process because they have found a wonderful fit with their therapist!

  • Yes! We are offering in person, masked sessions to clients who desire in-person services. Some Evergreen clinicians have continued to only offer 100% telehealth sessions. Our intake coordinator will tell you which clinician might be available to offer in-person services.

  • New HIPAA regulations stipulate that we can provide telehealth sessions via any electronic device, and on several platforms/apps. We use: Phone calls, video apps, and more on your computer, smart phone, or tablet. We recommend a comfortable, safe, private location to conduct your session with your therapist.
