Careers at Evergreen Counseling

WHO WE ARE

Evergreen Counseling was created to support therapists. Here at Evergreen, therapists are human first, clinicians second. The work of counseling is sacred and oftentimes brutal to the soul. The structure of Evergreen has been carefully crafted to provide a nurturing environment for the therapist who calls Evergreen their place of work. We understand that committing to anti-burnout practices allows clinicians to bring their whole selves to their clients and to the high standard of self-aware work required in each session.

We value: Work/Life Balance

We see the clinician not as a worker to produce the counseling product, but as humans with evolving passions, curiosity and intelligence to offer their clients and their coworkers. This is why we offer medical benefits, mental health days, and short term disability coverage. We also offer hybrid work from home options, after the first 90 days of employment.

We value: Continual learning

This is why we have multiple supervision groups, regardless of experience in the field. New counseling graduates and experienced clinicians are required to attend regular supervision. We offer generous stipends towards specific certifications for full time staff. Supervision isn’t just a legal requirement for you to check off your list, it’s the primary way you learn and receive support for this important, difficult work.

We value: Counseling Theory Diversity

Evergreen Counseling’s counseling philosophy is not from a homogenous behavioral point of view, nor from a strictly systemic perspective. We understand that each client benefits from an eclectic, customized approach to the therapeutic relationship, which is why we have a variety of training backgrounds on our staff.  All diverse counseling approaches and perspectives are welcome and indeed are necessary as clinicians continue their journey of being life-long learners.

We value: Multicultural Clinical Competency

Prioritizing cultural competency in the therapy session is required from all staff as we seek to continually understand the role White supremacy plays in counseling settings and this professions’ very origins. At Evergreen, we seek to counteract racist norms and White supremacy in multiple ways: we actively challenge the privileged perspectives that are rampant in various counseling models and treatment; we foster authenticity in identifying the therapist’s cultural background in the counseling relationship, while respecting shared or differing cultural backgrounds as a significant recurring dynamic in the therapeutic relationship, and lastly, we seek to uproot and unveil our own implicit racial bias that often centers the White experience as the sole experience of mental health suffering. With these goals in mind, we seek equality in mental health treatment.
